A natural site for running in superb medium and high mountain landscapes
In the heart of the Haut Pays des Alpes-Maritimes, Haute Vésubie and Valdeblore are distinguished by their particular topography with a profusion of peaks and walls between 1,500 and 3,000 m which intertwine to culminate in Gélas (3,143 m). ).
These slopes with steep drops in the heart of natural spaces of character, partly protected by the Mercantour National Park and the Parco Naturale delle Alpi Marittime have aroused for a long time, the come spring, the interest of the followers of the trail, or nature race run in self-sufficiency on the multiple paths and trails.
The courses in these high valleys are of high quality; they are set in the coniferous forests that populate the deep valleys and the alpine lawns that cover the last summit slopes.
Inaugurated in 2012 as one of the first certified Trail® Stations in France, the Vésubie Trail® Station offers marked loop routes of varying difficulty. These circuits will allow beginners and experts alike to make outings that combine rolling paths, physical climbs and technical passages in the heart of a wild and unexpected setting.
Trail runners can let themselves go running on these circuits by chaining several sustained climbs and descents according to their form, interspersed with rolling crossings; it will be possible for him to work on the elevation changes over short distances, muscle strengthening in the workshops and to improve his skills in hiking-running on the more marked ascents by criss-crossing valleys, passes and ridges of this exceptional natural and cultural heritage.
The search for variety in the routes, the profiles and the wild landscapes should not overshadow the technicality of a progression in the high mountains, which must be learned to master, to choose an objective adapted to the capacities of each and develop with modesty his endurance on targeted routes.
